I was unable to stop reading this latest book in the Will Trent/Sara Linton series, often reading late into the night and as soon as I woke up again the next day. Readers do not need to have read the other books in the series but understanding the main characters relationship adds another dimension to the novel.
I was immediately drawn into the story as soon as Dani Cooper appeared in the ER where Sara was working. The subject matter is very grim as Sara investigates some historic rape cases trying to get justice for Dani and herself. The mystery is really well written, I really enjoy Karin Slaughters style of writitng it deals sensitively with a very disturbing subject matter. There are some really unpleasant characters involved in this novel that were unfortunately all too believable. Trent and Linton have to confront their pasts in order to solve the case and protect anymore women from being hurt.
