Karen slaughter never fails to disappoint on finding the most interesting plot to murder, mystery and thrillers. this wasn’t my first of her books and it won’t be my last!
The main character Sara and her partner Will are trying to discover if there is a link between the attack on Sara a few years previously and another girl that Sara treats in the ED after being attacked - Sara promises the girl before she dies that she will stop 'him'. It turns out that the boy eventually on trial is the son of a former college associate and his wife. The wife has a breakdown in the court toilet after Sara has given evidence and alludes to the attacks being linked ( while she appears to be high)
Will is a police officer and with his work partner Faith try to help work out how to help Sara unofficially.
Then another girl is also attacked and held for days before she returns home in an awful state and eventually goes to the police.
The gang responsible are all college friend's and doctors and Sara, Will and Faith have to close in on the members to discover who did what and how to prove it
