This was a fantastic mystery crime/thriller novel, by Karin Slaughter. This book is part of a series but this can be read as a standalone. Having really enjoyed this book, I will definitely be checking out the other books in this series. Please note that this book covers sensitive topics which may be triggering.
Sara Linton is affected by the death of Dani Cooper, a young girl who was been assaulted and subsequently dies as a result of this. In order to solve this crime Sara must delve back into her past. Alongside Agent Will Trent and Faith, they start an unofficial investigation into Dani's assault after local police state the cause of death to an overdose of drugs.
The book covers sexual assault, rape, the abuse of power and male privilege. Karin does a fantastic job at covering these matters with her writing style. She has made a dark and compelling book. The plot line is fantastic and there are many twists and turns.
