This book is no 11 in the Will Trent series of books. I have read some stand alone books by Karin Slaughter before but not a Will Trent. I was lucky enough to win this book via Readers First so gave it ago.

This offering follows Will, Faith and Sarah on a case which involves rape, violence and abuse of women. This I found very hard hitting and not the nicest of subjects to read about. Karin Slaughter however is known for her heavy subject matters, which are raw and gritty with no holding back.

I normally like to read books in order if they are a series. However I read this book which could quite easily have been a stand alone. There are snippets into the characters past but it didn't matter too much that I jumped straight into book 11.

The story is hard hitting and I didn't enjoy the subject matter but did want to see justice done to all concerned. I really enjoyed the twist at the end and didn't guess at all.

I would read more Karin Slaughter but I think I'm more inclined to read the stand alone books as I don't want to have another series on the go, although I did enjoy this book in around about way.

Thank you to the publisher via Readers First for the book to review.
