I am grateful to have had the opportunity to read a book by an author who was new to me and to meet Will Trent an established character on another case alongside his colleague Faith. There was a back story from previous novels in the series but you do not need to have read any of these before as this is a standalone story which Karin Slaughter expertly navigates the reader through giving enough information about events to be able to read and not be confused.
The book reflects on the past event that affected Dr Sara Lintons (Wills Fiancé) life when she was at medical school and a current event intersperses with that resulting in a girls death and an old police investigation being reopened.
This was an easy book to read and although it looked at an unforgivable event it was not too dark to make the reader uncomfortable although it was obvious that the victims suffered immeasurably at the hands of a small club of deplorable men.
