This is the first Karin Slaughter novel that have read, and whilst I obviously cannot comment on previous books, this one failed to live up to my expectations.
I am a big fan of 'gritty thrillers' but I found the actual subject matter of this one hard to stomach and slightly unbelievable, and the characters, good and bad, difficult to engage with.
The 'goodies' all seem to have gone rogue with a blatant disregard for authority and I can't believe that a son of one of the main characters would be involved in an undercover sting operation.
Also, why the main protagonists would risk their privileged lifestyles to be involved in such activities is hard to fathom.

Whilst well written, I found the story not as exciting and riveting as I wanted it to be, and I found myself wishing I hadn't started it rather than wanting to find out what happens next.

Not bad, but not as good as I hoped it would be (sorry!)
