Ok so given the adult themes this novel deals with , I am incredibly impressed at how the author approached it with both sensitivity and realism.

I think the most stark thing throughout is just how real the characters in the books seem, and how every single plot point and event in the story was something you could believe may happen in real-life, and followed each part of the story in a logical sense that could still take me as the reader by surprise.

After That Night is part of a series of books, but beyond established relationships could be read as a standalone no problem.

The main Protagonists, Sara and her finance Will (who is the detective this whole series follows) are investigating a group of doctors who essentially run a sexual assault club, trusting in their power and privileges to keep them safe.
The story is extremely dark, and has lots of distressing moments and dark points of view, but is all the more engrossing for it as the Reader.

There is a good debate about rape-culture, the limits of the law, and how echo-chambers and peer pressure affect even 'normal' people, without being preachy, and the story whizzes by at a rate of knots without being side-tracked or belaboured.

I really enjoyed it, and will be seeking out the earlier novels.
