Karin Slaughter has returned to her best writing in After that Night.

Her last few books have been below par, in my opinion. This book continues the story of Doctor Sara Lenton and federal agent, Will Trent, who are about to get married.

The book deals with the subject of rape, a crime which Sara endured 15 years previously, and as a result of which she is unable to have a baby.

After that Night has an exciting start in the emergency department of Sara’s hospital followed by a nerve wracking court case.
Sara and Will and his partner Faith, investigate several rapes with similar MOs. These involved lots of characters and at times I felt I needed a ‘crazy string wall’ to keep them all clear in my mind.

I love the strong and principled main characters as much as I abhorred ‘the club’ - a group of professionals who should be the last people you would expect to commit such crimes.

Looking forward to the next Karin Slaughter book already.
