This is an emotional, thought provoking read. E Lockhart isn't shy with her writing, she is bold and experimental. In this case she explores the 'multi-verse' idea, that is, the plot taking place in multiple parallel universes. Not as complicated as it sounds believe me, we are simply presented with a few Sliding Doors-esque moments throughout the novel that explore the 'what ifs'. What if Adelaide had said yes/no, what if she hadn't taken that phone call etc. I read this in eBook format but would actually recommend getting a physical copy as I had to flick back a few times to reread the alternative timelines, although it is relatively easy to follow. The plot itself is bittersweet. Adelaide is hurting, nursing a broken heart both from a break up with her boyfriend and her brother's drug addiction. Over the course of the summer break she tries to turn her life around. Oh, and there's lots of dogs!
