I don't know how to feel about this book. I've read a few of E Lockhart's books and they've been hit or miss for me. This one lays somewhere in the middle. I think the dialogue in this book was beautiful and there were certain sentences that really resonated with me. Lockhart did a great job of showing character's feelings and personality through the way they communicate with each other. I also enjoyed that she gave us specific details about characters that give an insight into who they truly are.

However, where this book fell somewhat flat with me was the multiple universe concept. It came across as somewhat gimmicky and confusing. I feel like this technique prevented the book from being able to dive as deep into the topics I was most engaged by (such as the main character's relationship with her brother) because it would then switch to an unnecessary alternate timeline, occasionally undoing character progress. I definitely don't think this is a bad book and I enjoyed it for the most part. I just think the story she is trying to tell isn't the story I was hoping to read. I think this book will be better suited to people who are more interested in 'what if's.
