Having recently read Tall Oaks by the same author I was really pleased to see this title. Like that, this book has the intriguing premise of a small town, and people with secrets to hide. That earlier book had some flaws, but the characterisation was, largely, well done, and dialogue flowed easily, not always achieved in print. The other thing that draws me in is that I know Whitaker can genuinely pull off a jaw-dropping twist you really don't see coming so I can't wait to find out if he does the same with this new novel.
