Ah, I wanted to like this story, I really did, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
The main issue with the book was the way that it's written; the narrative was exceptionally distracting in a way that I couldn't just look past, the double negatives reflecting the language of the main characters in a way that almost made the entire book seem like it was written by someone who wasn't entirely educated. I understand that this may have been the intention, but I couldn't just get over it!
The main characters were nasty and irritating; so many flaws without any redeeming traits. I tried hard; but it was a difficult slog. I put the book down for long stints of time on several occasions, I just couldn't bring myself to enjoy it.
