Couldn't get into it

I feel bad for not finishing this, but I tried reading this numerous times and each time I struggled.
After reading Tall Oaks earlier this year and being pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it, I had high hopes for this book. However, the writing style and dialect it was written in was really difficult for me to get past and it felt like a slog to get through. At many times I forgot what I'd just read because I was caught up in trying to formulate the sentence in my head and reading it in the accent. Personally I'm not a fan of dialect writing because it takes me out of the story and I get confused and focus too much on the accent than the actual story.
The premise of the book sounded intriguing and I think I would have really enjoyed it if it wasn't written in a jarring way, especially seeing as Chris can write atmosphere well.
I'm pretty disappointed I didn't get to enjoy this as much as I'd hoped, but I'm not going to force myself to finish something that felt like a chore to get through. Sorry.
