It took me ages to get the rhythm of this book, but once I was there it was a rollercoaster of who's doing it, emotions and underlying malevolence. The story centres around Grace, a small rural town in Alabama and twins Raine and Summer. Summer has disappeared and to all intents and purposes she has run away. However, leading up to this several girls had disappeared, abducted by the "Bird Man", never to be seen again. Summer's sister Raine takes it upon herself to find her sister, aided and abetted by Noah and Purv, two young misfits. Also searching are Summer and Raine's father and his men on one side and the local law enforcement, including Black who used to be Noah's Dad's Partner, until he was shot. Cue simmering emotions, southern religion, brewing storms and you have a great book.
