This book was totally chilling from the first chapter. The surprise reveal of the male character's murderous nature was utterly shocking and chilling. I also really liked how the author interspersed glimpses of his childhood into the narration to explain his possible motives. The only thing that let this first glimpse down for me was an overreliance on description of women's bodies, although that's personal taste and I can acknowledge that it is actually fitting to the narrative to some extent to include it.
