A real let down

Sorry I really don’t like posting bad reviews but this book was frustrating and misleading.

I read the first chapter, a sneak peek if you will, on Readers First and couldn’t wait to read more. It literally had me hooked, this is what I wrote...

“Loved this! Sounds just up my street and had me hooked from that first snippet from the ‘date’.
Who saw that coming?
To be honest the cover doesn’t really portray this book that well, I’d likely skip over it if I saw it on the shelf but I think I’d be missing out on a potentially great story.
Looking forward to reading this one.”

Unfortunately I should have stuck to the sneak peek as it was the best part. If you’ve ever watched a movie trailer and thought wow that looks great, then watched the movie and realised all the best bits were in the trailer, you’ll understand exactly what I mean as this was what happened in this instance.

It was frustrating as I was expecting a thriller but instead there was nothing thrilling about it. All the parts of the plot that I really wanted to read were glossed over and instead the focus was on family drama and bad relationships.

The online dating element of the story, which I was genuinely interested in, was a side plot at best. The characters were all pretty awful and that was evidenced in the fact that I really didn’t care about any of them.

And then to make matters worse the ending was a total let down.

As you can tell I really didn’t enjoy this one and I won’t be picking up anything else by this author as it just wasn’t for me.
