The story develops quickly, set in Scotland a man wakes to find himself on the floor at the bottom of the stairs with no memory of who or where he is. The character Clemance is then quickley introduced. Clemance a 20 year old university student receives a call from an aunt telling her that she desperately needs Clemence to look after a relative who has suffered amnesia following a fall and can she collect him from hospital and nurse him back to health in his remote cottage until she arrives. I enjoyed the opening chapters but there inst enough to get a sense of were the story is going however I did like the characters and there is enough mystery to make me read on. Overall a good opening with interesting characters.
