This is so different from what I imagined it to be. It's split into two, one half is the current day with Clemence helping Alastair to regain his memories. The other half is Alastair's novel, that they are reading in order to try and remember his life and the lead up to now. The book suggests that he has killed someone, but he doesn't remember it. Did he kill her? If so, why?
This is a little slow in places and does take some perseverance at times, but if you give it time you will be hooked. I loved Clemence, she was definitely my favourite character.
I'd definitely recommend this, it's a great book and the ending was fantastic, particularly the last sentence (which blew my mind)! Brilliant.
