Although this appears to be a science fiction novel there are some resounding echoes of the current world climate situation. California is a desert and the East Coast is basically one big storm coast. Tolerance for perpetual requests for charity handouts is at an all time low and tensions are rising internally across both the once United States of America and across the whole word.

The first few pages made me think this wasn't going to be for me but I got completely hooked and soon got to the end of the First Impression and was left with an awwww....nooooooooo feeling as I was more than ready to read on.

Great 1970's style cover reminiscent of Escape From New York and it certainly melds well with that post-apocalypse world view. The writing style itself reminded me of Philip K Dicks where new words are imagined and never explicitly explained to the reader you just have to trust in the immersion of the story to explain what a drig, a cristal and a jeenee are.
