The image on the cover is prophetic - the statue of Liberty inundated by a risen sea level. It gives pause for thought - if the head of the statue is immersed then how many cities in America must also be underwater? A quick read of the start of this novel led me into tense drama as people on the east coast feared for their lives in a super storm and survivors despaired for the future. On the Pacific coast there seemed more expectation of a quiet life and hope for the next generation with intriguing glimpses of embedded technology. But there, too, is an underlying uncertainty.
