Despite being a look into the future it looks as if some of the themes to be explored in this novel will be very relevant to the world's current problems - refugee crises and right wing politics, climate change and extreme weather events. I think it is a really interesting idea to set these mainly in America as all too often I think it can be easy for people in the affluent West to feel these aren't our problems but happen to others far away.
