I don't usually read science fiction books as I am unable to suspend my sense of credulity. However, this book which is set 100 years into the future was totally and worryingly believable.
It is a futuristic novel about what may/will happen in North America if climate change continues. Holly, a British publicist, is recruited to work for aspiring presidential candidate, Steve Slaymaker. The book gives insights into how easily peoples opinions and votes can be manipulated by misleading propaganda and social media. I'm sure this aspect of the book applies to nowadays as well as in the future. The number of female CEOs and presidents in the book is clearly not a current feature of our lives. I'm sure this book will turn out to be prophetic in many ways and I shall continue to think about the issues it raises for some time to come. Recommended.
