I read Anna Karenina when i was around 15 (over 8 years ago now! yikes) and her intense love for Vronsky always resonated with me. I tell everybody that this is my favourite classic book, as despite the fact that it is in fact one of the harder classics to get through, it is a truly beautiful tragedy.

I was extremely sceptical that Anna K could live up to the way I have felt about Anna Karenina for so long, so I attempted to go into it with an open mind and I was not disappointed by it. Jenny Lee does a wonderful job at modernising the characters and the setting by moving it to modern day New York, rather than the original setting of Russia. Despite these changes, the beauty of the story is not lost, and I did not feel any difference in the emotions I felt towards the tragedy of it, and I loved the way that she modernised Anna with the way the ending happened.
