This is a YA romance novel set in the Upper-East Side, amongst the youth of the wealthy 1%. If you enjoyed Gossip Girl then I would definitely recommend - the moment you begin reading, it feels like you've been transported back into the world of Gossip Girl (minus the Gossip Girl π), with all the opulence and teen drama to follow suit. This novel is also a retelling of Anna Karenina - and so I am already personally biased towards the book as I love a good retelling of a Classic.
For anyone not familiar with Anna Karenina, the story is told from many different characters POVs with many intertwining storylines. As a result of there being many different characters it can be a bit difficult to keep up with all the different storylines as I often felt a little lost and confused - However, the author, Jenny Lee, has put in a Contents of Characters at the beginning of the book which I found to be incredibly helpful.
Itβs interesting to read but the writing style isn't the most riveting and so although this has made its way onto my TBR list as a result of the plot itself, I don't think i'll be reading it immediately. I do feel that it's important to note though that I've only been able to read an excerpt, so I will be giving it a chance to see how it goes and because I want to support an indie book especially when it features PoCs as main characters π
