This was the first book I was given by ReadersFirst to review and honestly I was so shocked I was picked. I was so excited for it to arrive and get stuck in. I had to be patient as I was already part way through another read, and I can only read one fiction at the time!
I thought the cover of this book was really attractive, I know we should never judge them by the cover but it just stood out and really drew me in as soon as it popped up on my feed. I thought the character picture was truly stunning and loved the pink and gold gold colour scheme.
I've never read this author before, so I had no idea of what to expect, from genre to writing style. From reading the blurb I got romance vibes with possibly a hint of Young Adult writing, but I would only know once I started to read. The story does follow a group of teenagers however, in the first few pages drug use and sexual acts were mentioned, so not sure what age this should be aimed at.
I'm also just going to add that I normally read crime and thriller books, I am no way an expert on romance novels so I'm not sure how much weight you want to hold on my opinion!
I really liked the fact that at the beginning of the book there was a list of all the characters with a brief description of who they are and how they fit in. There is nothing worse than starting a new book and getting characters mixed up and forgetting who the are.
Right away the characters and descriptions of them reminded me of the show gossip girl! I was enjoying the story line but the continuous fashion talk distracted and derailed me from the true story. I know this is suppose to replicate how these types of people live their lives but, unless you are into that thing, it wasn't that great to read after the first handful of times.
I wanted to love this and find out what happened with all of the characters but I just couldn't get past how things were dragged out. Unfortunately it's a miss for me!
