So overall I found this book OK. I did not ever build a good connection to any of the characters; I found them frustrating and annoying.

I have always loved Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina so I thought this novel would be a nice modern twist on the classic. However, I was extremely disappointed when I found this Anna K read like a child’s book. What I mean by this is that the actually story line was good but the way it was written felt child-like and immature. I felt I had to force myself to keep reading thinking that in the next chapter it would improve. Well I’ll let you into a secret. It does not improve. Having finished it, I feel exhausted and quite honestly like I’ve wasted a few days of my life.

In my opinion, this novel does not do Tolstoy justice. It’s incredibly hard to live up to standards when the original novel is such a classic. Perhaps my expectations were too high...but I definitely won’t be reading it again.
