I had never read the original classic which I assumed this story was loosely based on so I wasn't sure at all what to expect when I first picked this book up. Very soon, I realised that it wasn't really the style of book which I enjoyed, I felt that the author tried to create a 'modern atmosphere' and while they succeeded with this, it was almost emphasised on too much. However, I tried to finish the book since I had been intrigued by the blurb and so I still wanted to finish reading it. The writing style of the author was quite good and I felt that the book was paced well to begin with although towards the end I did feel as it was a bit rushed. Overall, I would recommend this book if this is the kind of story you enjoy, but not for me.
