I won this book on here and if I’m honest it really didn’t seem like something I would enjoy reading. However, i gave it a chance and I was pleasantly surprised.
REVIEW
A modern day take on the original classic Anna Karenina, Anna K is a young, beautiful teenager who has been with her beau Alexander for 3 years when her paths cross with the equally beautiful Count Vronski. She is knocked for six and secretly hopes to see him again. Anna is very principled but becomes closer to Vronski when he attends a party held by a mutual friend. As the connection becomes stronger she eventually gives in and cheats on Alexander with Vronski.
In the meantime their group of friends are going through their own trials and tribulations, made worse because of the drugs they are taking and underage sex some are engaging in (Kimmie being the youngest at 15). Money is no object to most of these teenagers and if they want something they tend to get it.

However, as the story shows love and friendship cannot be brought and what really matters is the support and forgiveness they all have for each other. Sadly tragedies occur but the young people go deep and finally (for Anna in particular) find something of benefit from terrible outcomes.

I was a little shocked at how at ease all of these teenagers were with taking all kinds of drugs and not even acknowledging the risks (until it was too late). Romantic type of stories are not usually my thing but I quite liked this book which was focused on young people’s experiences especially those from a ‘privileged’ background. I haven’t read Anna Karenina (but I am intrigued to now) and can only suggest that this is a good contemporary version of the first book
