But I Wont Do That

Billy Orr’s sister Mia became his mother figure after the loss of both their parents years earlier and so when he learns that she’s very ill, he takes a break from his job to go and stay with her and her husband.

On his first day with her, they go shopping to Tesco and he has a chance encounter with his ex girlfriend Aimi in Tesco. All the feelings he had for her when they were together 11 years ago resurface and when he finds out she’s in trouble, he’s willing to do anything he can to help her.

She tells him she’s in an abusive relationship with her husband and begs him to help her to disappear, even though it won’t be easy as her controlling husband and family are very influential in the town and will be hard to escape their clutches.

Billy has some demons in his past which we get to know during the book, which flits backwards and forwards to various years in the past and present, but we do know that his love for Aimi never died and he’s willing to do anything in his power to help her. Mia really doesn’t approve of her and Billy has to keep his plans a secret from her.

I found this to be an unputdownable book which I wanted to finish as soon as possible to find out how it all worked out.

There are quite a few surprises along the way as we get to know Billy more and he’s a character to warm to, as is his sister, but most of the others we encounter during the book, aren’t so pleasant so I really wanted it all to work out for him.
