Although this is technically Y A fiction I thoroughly enjoyed it, I think the mix of family pressures, sexuality, and mental health coming up as key issues made it really relevant and actually a quick read. The dual narrative plays out in a really interesting way as the two main characters don’t even meet for most of the book, but I found both Julius and Georgia’s stories really compelling. Julius’s descriptions and feelings towards Nigeria were also very vivid and the stories of corruption and violence were deeply touching, the story seemed very well researched . I also actually liked that Julius and Georgia were separate for most of the novel as it forced you to draw separate conclusions about them initially and was a unique style.
