I'm sad to say this book was not for me. I recognised the authors name as Robert Muchamore is a beloved author by many people but I'm disappointed as I couldn't enjoy this book at all.
As soon as I saw the cover I was put off, it's too clashing, it almost looks as though it should be some kind of optical illusion with the strong blue & red colours. I decided to give the novel the benefit of the doubt despite the cover but from the first few chapters I found it mostly boring.
I didn't enjoy the writing, it was readable but I was expecting something more action packed and gripping. I also though there would be much more of a science fiction element to the story.
I appreciate the difficult topics the author wanted to address, but to me this book fell short of my expectations.
