Ayesha is a teacher. She leads a busy life. Her muslim family are her mainstay and she loves them dearly but they are hindering her life. Numerous aunties constantly interfere with Ayesha's personal and private life. She is constantly aware she is unmarried and often reminded, especially by her younger cousin who has had numerous marriage proposals.
Ayesha dreams of becoming a poet. She doesn't want to settle down in an arranged muslim marriage.Ten she meets Khalid. He is clever and handsome but he too judges her. But he somehow gets under her skin and she wonders if he could be the man for her.
Khalid is a traditionalist - he believes his mother should choose him a bride - but what if it is not Ayesha - maybe they are meant to be together.
The author has told this tale as if real life experiences are told throughout this book and it all fits together to make a really good page turner - a little out of the ordinary than books I usually read - but that's a good thing
