In a time of such turmoil and tension this book is exactly what we all need. Set in the Muslim community it's pitched as a modern Pride & Prejudice and it's easy to see why.
Our main two protagonists, Ayesha and Khalid, dislike each other at first sight but, as they say, love and hate are very close bedfellows and as they get to know each other better their feelings definitely flip.
Meanwhile there's a fabulous array of side stories going on. Hafsa, the flighty young cousin, who is just fending off multiple proposals. Amir who is homeless and an alcoholic. A cash strapped Mosque in danger of closure. A mystery involving Khalid's sister and a family cover up. Clara and her boyfriend of 10 years who won't commit and the odious Sheila who has prejudice seeping from every pore. Then there's Tarek who is painting himself as a saviour yet seething with revenge.
It's a vibrant, fun and interesting melting pot which provides the perfect amount of drama and light relief (plus the perfect happy ever after ending too) Loved it!
