I love seeing more diverse fiction hitting the shelves, especially own voices romance such as this one, featuring Ayesha, who is a hijabi Muslim woman. It's so important to publish books like this. It wasn't exactly my cup of tea as I found it to be quite cheesy and cliched with a bit too much angst for my liking - when it comes to romance, I can't bear too much angst. I also didn't think that the marketing of this as being a Muslim Pride and Prejudice was particularly accurate as I didn't see much resemblance between the characters. For me, there were too many extra characters and I would've liked more of a focus on Ayesha and Khalid - it's a romance after all! Despite my issues with the book, I've rounded it up as it's important to read these voices and to publish diverse fiction written by diverse people.
