I was completely surprised by how much I enjoyed 'Ayesha at Last' by Uzma Zalaluddin. I'm always a little sceptical about literary reworkings and in particular from a beloved author like Jane Austen. However, I was really entertained with Zalauddin's story of Ayesha and Khalid in the re-worked roles of Elizabeth and Darcy.

This book was funny, and contains a wonderful variety of characters, or quite often caricatures, and this provided many comedic moments. My favourite characters were the lovely Nana and Nani, who provided the stability and council for Ayesha. It was lovely to see humour used within the Muslim faith and this was often turned into something really heart-warming. It was also a lovely homage to Austen's novel. If you're up for a witty, romantic comedy using traditions of mistaken identity, misunderstandings and cunning villains, then this would be the book for you.
