Don't you miss Hyderabad?" She asked instead.
"Sometimes I miss my classes at university, and my books. My library took over the entire first floor of our house. Nani was jealous of my collection. She said I loved it more than her. She was wrong, of course. I brought her when we moved, not my books."
I loved this book more than I expected to! It had everything, and more I wanted to be in a book.
It portrayed Muslims and even characters of other ethnicities very accurately. Something that truly amazed me and stuck out for me was Khalid's deep respect towards Islam. I have never read a book where a Muslim guy is this invested in his religion. I loved the way he dressed and behaved and followed the guidelines of Islam in every path of his life. His character growth throughout the novel was also phenomenal. This story had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I read it in just a couple of sittings.
I have never been so engrossed in a book this way. I honestly cared for all the characters. I really commend Clara and Amir for standing up for Khalid to teach their racist boss a lesson.
I can not formulate words to describe my love for this book. I devoured every second of it!
I found myself relating to Ayesha on so many occasions. Her uncertainty when making decisions and a few other things hit close to home. Her nana and nani were also highly likeable and a great support for her.
Hats-off to the author for writing such an authentic piece that truly represents so many bittersweet realities of life.
If you are in a mood for a fun ride full of love and family drama then do not hesitate picking this book up!
