A really good read. The main theme of the story is the developing relationship between Ayesha and Khalid . They are both Muslim but have very different ideas of how to practise their religion. Khalid has a very domineering mother who is determined to choose his wife for him and he is happy at first to accept this. Ayesha at twenty seven is considered to be very old and not likely to find a husband. References are frequently made to Ayesha's father and Khalid's sister but it is only near the end of the book that we learn what had happened to them. There are of course many similarities to Pride and Prejudice especially in Khalid's proposal and in the behaviour of Hafsa. I would recommend this book as well worth reading.
