I have to hold my hands up and admit that this book far exceeded my expectations! I love Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice', so I'm always dubious and slightly wary when a new book is sold to me on the basis of it being an adaptation of the original 'Pride and Prejudice'. However, I'm happy to say that although 'Ayesha at Last' is loosely based on P and P, it works well as a stand alone novel too.

Ayesha, a single teacher who has yet to find romance, is the main character in this story. She meets and soon clashes with Khalid, a very conservative Muslim who is happy to forever play by his mother's rules, including his upcoming arranged marriage.

You can guess how the story ends, but it is a lovely, humorous plot that sweeps you to the end. I also loved the fact that the plot wasn't an exact replica of the original P and P.
