I was a bit reluctant to read the story after I read comments that referenced Pride and Prejudice. I thought to myself "I hope its not just another copycat version of an amazing story". However, when I started reading I was pleasantly surprised. Although there are nods to the classic both in terms of storyline and characters' personalities, I thought it was done in a tasteful way and was still its own original story. The cast of characters was amazing. I particularly liked her parents.
It was good to read a book that discussed Islam as this is not something I would have normally chosen. I learnt a lot about a new culture and it made me think about how people around the world do have to deal with arranged marriages every day which was something I couldn't comprehend.
Overall the book was a brilliant love story that was funny, emotional and thought provoking. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
