I was very excited to read ‘Ayesha at last’ after reading the first impression as it is rare to find a romance featuring a Muslim couple in UK mainstream literature. I enjoyed finding out how the characters developed throughout the book and, through a well constructed plot, how their flaws and insecurities were revealed to the reader.

Once I realised the links to Jane Austen it took me a while to settle back into the story - I spent a bit too much time trying to work out where we were in Austen's plot. However it did add more to my understanding of the characters as you then could see their flaws more clearly as a reflection of Darcy and Elizabeth.

All in all this is a well constructed romance involving well known yet entirely new characters (I loved the concept of a Muslim Mr Darcy) and I would be interested in reading more from this author.
