Ayesha At Last by Uzma Jalaluddin is a wonderfully written, funny book. It is described as a Muslim romantic comedy and it is certainly that but will appeal to readers of all faiths and none. It's a very amusing story that also gives an insight into the Muslim beliefs relating to marriage. Ayesha is a poetry writing teacher who thinks she is getting too old to find a husband as Muslim girls tend to marry relatively young however she doesn't want an arranged marriage. This is in contrast to her younger cousin Hafsa who is very excited at the prospect of her parents finding her a husband. The first person the author introduces the reader to is Khalid who is also content to leave his widowed mother to find him a bride. This book takes us through the involved process of each of them finding love. The reader will be engrossed in this story right from the start.
