The lurid cover with key words "Bad things" and "Deadly" give you a clue of what is to come. The narrative is compact and fast paced, and you are plunged straight into the wealthy, privileged white world of America, where the YA girls are in a world of their own. Page 2 has the warning at the top, that this book contains self-harm, suicide, physical and sexual violence. It also has the island's "curse" which results in several bodies. Is there anything else missing from this list that might add to the story? I do know from experience that the tumbling torment of adolescence can involve all these things, but I am unsure whether this book will add value to anyone's experiences or help at all.
