We are introduced to the life of young teenager Luca and her family mum dad and older sister Whitney who live on and island community where young girls have died suspiciously in the past the latest being Luca’s best friend and girl next door Paula who drowned last year. As the story starts Luca is marking the anniversary of her friend’s death by leaving flowers at the bridge where they used to go to hang out. New people have moved in next door and Whitney suggests they take the daughter Naomi with them to a party to introduce her to their friends. At the party Luca and Naomi get separated from Whitney and end up going home themselves next morning Whitney has not returned and although Luca believes the community is cursed she is not yet worried about her sister but Whitney may be the next victim to die
