The blurb of this new YA novel sounded interesting and piqued my interest in reading this book even though it is a genre I usually avoid.
The first forty or so pages were successful in setting the scene and introducing the main characters. A small island inhabited by wealthy middle class families but which has a ‘ curse ‘ regarding unexpected deaths of young girls. I can see that the story will involve teenage angst, mental health issues and has a leaning towards some LGBTQ content. It is trying very hard to be on trend and young readers will probably love it.
