I'm very much not a Young Adult so I'm not surprised I found it difficult to feel much connection with the characters. However I recognise I'm not the target audience for this book. I really couldn't understand Luca's desire to stay in a place where so many bad things happen and I found her description of her parents as clueless but well-intentioned rather harsh given they have also lost a child.
