Luca, strong yet sad and damaged is an extremely likeable main character. LGBT and mixed race Luca is surrounded by rich white families, and some are desperate to keep their secrets and their lifestyles.
Ultimately this is a coming of age story but with mystery and romance thrown in, making this is a highly enjoyable read.
On the surface a paradise island but in reality young women lose their lives in Parris and the police don’t seem to interested in finding out how and why. Luca loses first her best friend, then her sister and decides to start her own investigation.
If you enjoyed We Were Liars then you’ll like this book too. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on the author in the future!
