I was really looking forward to this after reading the first look, initially it seems that Parris is a privileged haven for the privileged few, and who doesn't want to read about that kind of place? Having said that, nowhere is perfect and Parris is no exception. Small communities love to gossip and have their secrets. Luca has already lost his best friend, and when his sister, Whitney, also passes away, he teams up with his friend and next door neighbour, Naomi, to try and work out what happened. They question whether it isn't just a murderer, but a curse.
The book itself was really fast-paced, as any good thriller should be, and there were constant twists and turns. You were constantly finding out new things about characters you thought you knew and soon it's clear that nothing is as simple as it seems.
