I enjoyed 'Bad Things Happen Here', and right up to the end I didn't guess what was going to happen which is a sign of a good thriller.
The narrator is Luca, a 17 year old who lives on the island of Paaris. Although it has the appearance of being paradise there is a dark side to the island, and Luca is mourning the death of her best friend Polly when her sister Whitney is also murdered.
Luca believes in the island story of the curse and wonders how she can protect herself and her loved ones from succumbing to it.
She then starts to investigate the murder of her sister, and starts to uncover more than she was expecting. She was horrified to discover that everything she believed had been a lie, and the people she thought she could trust were not as honest as she thought.
This was a great summer read, and it was a page turner for the most part. The character development is great and will keep you on your toes until the end.
