This is the first book by Rebecca Barrow that I have read and after reading this I can now see why her books are popular and I'll definitely be looking out for her others.

Bad Things Happen Here is a well written YA mystery. The plot is intriguing and a bit mysterious from the very start. There were many twists throughout. I found myself pulled into the lives of the inhabitants of this island and I was curious to find out more about this curse.
Although the book is essentially a murder mystery there is also just as much focus on our protagonist Luca. The story follows her grief as she journeys towards better understanding herself and this place she lives.
Overall a fast paced, captivating book with complex, well written characters.
