Bad Things Happen Here is the story of Luca who after the death of her sister decides she is going to get to the bottom of it and work out the curse of her home Parris that is putting everyone in danger.
I really liked the sound of this book and it sounded like a gripping read. I have found recently that since reading Holly Jackson's series of books that all other YA thrillers are bland and uneventful in comparison and this is unfortunately another book that fell into this trap! I was bored for most of the book and found the story progressed soooo slowly until the last fifty or so pages which did get more interesting.
I liked how Luca's character was so determined and protective over those around her but I think the story could've been much better if we got to know more about all of the characters lives prior to the events in the book. A lot of the time it was mentioned in passing but I didn't find we ever really got to know the characters which is another reason I was bored through a lot of the book as I didn't feel like I knew any of the characters well.
I didn't think much of the book and whilst the end did get better the very end seemed contradictory to the story. This book was okay but I expected a lot more twists in turns in this story and yet it seemed to lack any action or events in the story til the very end.
